Opioid Epidemic Reminder For Law Enforcement

Opioid Epidemic Reminder For Law Enforcement

Micah Welintukonis, unaffiliated candidate for governor and retired US Army, Issues Reminder to Law Enforcement Regarding Illegal Heroin and other Opioid Dealers.

In response to increasing incidents regarding the 3,000 plus opioid overdoses in the first four months of 2018, and the impact it has on our state.  Every law enforcement agency should be reminded of the Marijuana and Controlled Substances tax imposed by Conn. Gen. Stat. §12-651.

It states that any Connecticut state or municipal law enforcement agency, including criminal justice agencies, courts and federal agencies, may refer suspected cases of tax delinquency to the Department of Revenue Services.

What do taxes have to do with opioid overdoses?  Reporting dealers to the DRS for tax evasion could help combat the cost of the epidemic, and help take dealers off the streets.
