MICAH WITHDRAWS FROM CITIZENS ELECTION PROGRAM

MICAH WITHDRAWS FROM CITIZENS ELECTION PROGRAM

May 1st, 2017
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COVENTRY — Today, Micah Welintukonis, Candidate for Governor made the
following statement on his decision to withdraw from Connecticut’s Citizen Election
Program. “I will not use taxpayers’ dollars to fund my campaign. I’m leaving it up to the
voters to decide who they would like to contribute to”.

Micah further stated, “This decision did not come easily, and I make this announcement
today as tangible proof of my commitment to the future of Connecticut, and my
willingness to do what is right, even if it costs me the nomination”. As a retired senior
military leader, I have always stayed true to my foundation of values by doing what is
right, legally and morally. Our future needs to be shaped by more than just words, which
is why I am placing the welfare of the state, and its citizens first by withdrawing from the
tax payer funded Citizens Election Program. Our state is in a financial disaster and we
must practice frugality to climb out of the three billion dollar hole the previous
administration has put us in. Siphoning millions of taxpayer dollars, so the two major
party candidates can play dirty politics until election day, is irresponsible and frankly, a
disservice to the hardworking men and women of this state. Some might worry that I will
be influenced by big money donations, and that’s why I will continue my pledge of not
accepting donations from lobbyists or state contractors during this election. Campaign
donations will also be capped at $2,018.00”.

Micah is the only candidate with a written plan to move Connecticut forward and has also
pledged to cut his salary once elected as Governor. For more information on Micah and
